"A World Without Tobacco Waste"
No More Butts sees a future where tobacco waste is not carelessly littered into the environment.
We are on a mission to rid the world of tobacco waste.
Although we believe the best way to achieve this is through the removal of cigarette filters and banning of disposable vapes, this may also be achieved through other policy measures, education, infrastructure and clean-ups.
We have also engaged with research institutes to consider (or disprove) if cigarette butt waste could be a resource.
• Thought leadership - With our global and domestic experience, we provide knowledge on how to tackle tobacco waste. From policy, to evidence-based solutions, we provide consultation to government and organisations on tangible actions.
• Evidence-based solutions - We bring evidence-based solutions to our partners. In the short-term, we work on preventing tobacco waste from entering our environment, as well as cleaning up the items that can't be stopped,, which helps protect and preserve the natural environment.
• Productive partnerships - We work hard to be the partner of choice to tackle tobacco waste. As a charity, No More Butts collaborates and partners with other organisations to coordinate events and collect and share data. We offer our services in both a paid and pro bono capacity to all levels of government around the world.

Our charity is comprised entirely of volunteers - from those that pick up butts and coordinate events, to those that manage social media and business and government engagements. All Directors of No More Butts are volunteers. Visit our Volunteer page to see the current opportunities that exist.
After witnessing the devastating impact of discarded cigarette butts on beautiful locations around the world, Shannon was inspired to resign his corporate role and dedicate himself to No More Butts. As the 2024 Queensland Gives Environmental Philanthropist of the Year, Shannon has donated thousands of hours to our cause. Shannon had previously been recognised in 2021 as Cairns Regional Council's Volunteer of the Year and in 2025 was named a finalist for the Queensland Volunteer of the Year award.
We understand that the world that we are protecting is diverse. At No More Butts, we want to create an environment for everyone to contribute, regardless of their background or their ability, so we will have a greater chance of delivering our mission.
We know that tobacco waste impacts some communities disproportionately. We are looking to continue to build an organisation that also reflects this diversity. We believe the combination of our backgrounds, experiences and views enable us have richer conversations, which can identify some great outcomes.
We not only want to rid the world of tobacco waste, we want to encourage and offer opportunities for everyone to help us.
We acknowledge that our work takes place on the traditional lands of Indigenous Peoples around the world. We honour them as the original and continuing stewards who have cared for these beautiful lands and waters since time immemorial, and we recognise their profound and enduring connection to culture and community. We pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging, and to all Indigenous Peoples. As an organisation, we are committed to learning from and supporting Indigenous communities in our work.
